"Stop Running Away"
Hailing from the coalfields of West Virginia, A Mile to Nowhere is a different breed of band. A mix of honest country, unyielding rock and roll and pop sensibility, the band is hard to define. That may be the way they would prefer it. Call it country, rock, or whatever you may. It seems to make no difference to them; as long as you're listening.
Singer/songwriter Roger Lee and drummer Teddy Murphy had played in bands together for upward of six years when they decided to form what became A Mile to Nowhere. The initial idea was simple enough: play music for the sake of playing music. After writing began, however, they quickly realized the idea should be taken seriously. After a couple of early lineup changes, guitarist T.J Murphy and bassist Matt Sincell entered to complete the lineup.
The groups latest E.P titled "Still Running" sums it up fairly well. Filled with songs about life, love, heartbreak, and escapism; the record sounds like an honest small town story. Recorded partly and Nashville's Black Bird Studio, and finished in First Avenue Sound. Produced by David Hall (Gavin Degraw, Montgomery Gentry, Alan Jackson). Whether it's the lonesome yearning in the ballad "Sing to You", the drunken excitement of "Her Name", or the small town rebellion of "This Damn Town", every track holds weight, and every track holds some truth for someone.
